Well spotted Stampman - you found my deliberate typo error! A bonus, free, unexpected Zero crept into my response.
(I'm tempted to say it was the Board that duplicated my "0", like Fish's duplicated posting - but I think it'd be hard to claim a one-character Board error.)

OK, I'll come clean, my 2970 did 120W (one hundred and twenty - in case I do it again) AM/FM and I'd taken it to my local Rig Doc to have it turned-down to get it to that. When I bought it it was pushing 60W minimum and 150max on AM and FM which made me feel like a local over-linear'ed Muppet. After the de-tune I could at least get the FM down to about 25-30W on the RF Power knob. A Call of "one nine for a Roger" had the Muppets leaping to their microphones from Birmingham to Plymouth.

Crikey, if it'd really been throwing 1200W that would account for the RG58 going duff on me. It would have probably cooked the shielding and fried the core. . . . And melted the neighbour's passing cat.

na dont seem that way,

i phoned them today, they said it should be back with them from repair in the next few days, so im guessing it was not the finals as they would have called me to tell me it is not covered by warrenty and that i will have to.

if its not covered by the warrenty they normally call to tell you the price and confirm you want it done, so hopefully its just a minor fault.

we shall see, still getting sold though

Seems like a Friday night radio mate - best sell it on before it ends up out on the firing range.

Out on the radio soon? - the skip's been pouring in lately.

Cheers.

Hope so mate, don't want you to miss the skip this year.

I've an Antron 99 up now, so hoping for some good contacts this weekend - first ever copy with it was to the Balearic Islands :D

Cheers.

go it back this monday,

its working again, on tm forum for a week before i put it on ebay, no interest yet though.

got it back with no paperwork so dont know what the fault was, all i know is it was a free repair so was not the finals,

the company i sent it to sent it on to another place for warrenty repair so its taking a while to find the full fault report, but its back thats the main thing.

now to shift it, i suppose not many are going to be interested cos of the slight history (all fixed now) but i can try
