My name is David i live in Morpeth Northumberland in the UK i have just bought my self my first handheld CB which is the H-512 PLUS CB Transceiver what my problem is i don't know which channel you use in Morpeth i don't even know how far this CB will work if any one can tell me or can any one tell me who lives in Morpeth Northumberland tell me what time they go on there CB'S so i can see if i can here any one just to see if i have set it would be grateful indeed thak you for your time and help
H-512 PLUS CB TRANSCEIVER
If you are trying to use it with just the supplied 'rubber duck' aerial, your range is going to be about 500 yards. Only height above any surrounding buildings/terrain will improve this very poor range. But not by much. Hand helds with tiny rubber duck antennas are not designed for range.
You would need a mag mount (for mounting on a vehicle) or a homebase antenna (put up on your chimney) to give a better range. Say, 5 to 20 miles on average. More if you have a good location.
Unless you have local groups operating on specific channels (which is possible), you can always try channel 19 as a starting point.

There is an active Northumberland Net on UK FM Ch38 up there, although I'm not sure of their exact locations, but unless they're on your doorstep, or you take the CB to very high ground, you'll unlikely be able to make contact.
These days with CB operators being much more widely dispersed than they were back in the CB boom times, you need to attach a much better antenna to your CB to have any real chance of landing many contacts
