Antron / Solarcon A99 - Grounding query, is it required?
Hello, I recently had one of these fitted on the side of the house on a pole. The base of the antenna starts at the roof roof/apex of my house. I understand the A99 is mainly fibreglass, does this need to be grounded? It is currently connected to my Alinco DX-SR9.

i like the sirio tornado27 5/8 wave...but its not dc ground so therefore picks up a bit of static unnecessarily
so i dug out my now 1 year old sirio and made some changes to the feed point
ok so i like dont have a machine shop ..hell a hacksaw and a cordless drill works wonders and a plumbers soldering iron thats older than rifleman223
not going to explain rubbish ...the ones that have a sirio tornado27 will be well aware of the strange setup the coil is
heres some pics of a stock one ripped from the net

here is what i did ..
moved coil down over the insulator
earthed the bottom end..
cut the feed rod down to make the tap point and added some silver braid
(yeah will get around to putting heat-shrink on that) from so239 to tap point .. one dc ground 5/8 wave gp
the after pics)

need to go to screw shop for some S/S bolts..on the "to do list"
tunes alot better R=50 X=0 flashing 1 at 27.205) ..before hand it was lucky to dip to 1.3:1 on a good day
noise floor is very low
why sirio did not do this in the first place is just well ....yeah
but i guess all they care about is fiberglass duck low power antennas like rf-drain-disaster and not making a "ok" alloy one better with one small tweak
