I have recently purchased a midland Alan 100 plus C.B. radio and i am looking for a antenna to use with it. i have been looking at the Thunderpole super nova but when i went down to my local C.B. radio shop i was told that I shouldn’t be using a antenna that is under 3.5 foot long as it will mess up my radio and then they pulled out a massive antenna that they recommended. If anyone could help with whether what the shop has said is true or not and whether the super nova is a good antenna to use it would be great. Thanks.

I am setting up a base station and will put up a silver rod type. Do you get much interference from them.? how high should I get it? I hope to get it fitted on a pole above the eves of the house. I will want to use sideband as well as UK FM.

no not a lot of interference from them if set up right and get as high as you can preferably mounted on a chimney stack
easily fitted with double mounting straps rond the stack so no drilling

if it anit broke dont fix it
Great just got my 1/2 wave silver rod need to assemble it now. Looks straightforward can i use amalgamating tape to seal each section from water? It wont affect the SWR reading of the aerial... guess i can use it on the plug too!
Any ideas of getting a standoff and a pole attached to my gable end? will a local TV aerial erector do it for a price? I will sus this out

I hope you have put some garden canes into your silver rod as they will help your antenna to be more stable in strong winds hopefully it will live through our bad weather
