been having a play with my old rotel cb
rewired the mike
clean up and tune, full 5watts of power wooooo lol
and i can tell you
you just cant beat the feel of an old cb can you
it feels so much better to use than my brand new flash radios with all the bells and wistles
why is that
i just cant explain it
you can just smell the early 80's when you fire it up
is it just me or do you lot feel the same
or have i been drinking to much again
:) :D

I find the older rigs from the 80's early 90's feel more solid mainly on the channel selector I find the new rigs and my tti-880 too loose and feel flimsy
Jim,

CB'ers do it till it Hertz...Side Banders do it till it MegaHertz

I've been collecting old 80's style Cb's and now have about 20, mostly boxed top-of-the-range ones, and yep, they're much better than the nasty new ones. I've noticed though as I looked at a few new ones that the old meters and channel selector knobs are reappearing, so maybe the manufacturers have cottoned on the that fact :)

Bring back the good old Unidens/Audiolines, Yorks, Rotels, Harriers and Binatone 5 stars etc etc... you can't beat 'em!

Glad you like the Jesan Big daddy merc :D
i still use my old fidelity 2000 (the proper one not the cheapo amstrad thing) or audioline homebase both still work perfectly.
had one or 2 of the newer multi channel things here to work on, they went very quickly.

I know how you feel Fatfinger, there's something about the Rotel that blows the newer rigs into the weeds, and you can just 'feel' the nostalgia every time you key the mike!

Nice, nice rigs.......

Some current CB radios that may meet your approval:

Image
President Taylor III Classic

Image
President Walker

Image
President Jackson II (SSB/AM/FM) and perfectly legal for use on the correct setting (UK) even though it has SSB selectable on a front switch! :D

It would seem that at least President are making CB radios that potentially appeal to the older CB generation.

See! It's not all doom and gloom in CB radio! :D

Ps. I don't work for President!
