might as well be first to post here, lol, well it seems that the glorious scanners can no longer pick up police broadcasts as they have now changed to Airwaves ie digital system and bloody taxis are boring lol

Hi Mark, I believe you live in Port Glasgow. I heard that all of Strathclyde Police have changed their radios
It is kinda boring listening to the T.V or taxis on scanners now

...
I've went to a few scenes where the police have been called to and arrived before them and that was them with their lights and siren going!
Sorry for the sadness!

Well, I suppose that's the early warning for the late night party raids out of the window

Hi all,
With regard to scanning, is it possible to scan anything interesting with my magnum s9 or do you need the proper kit.
Just thought it would help pass away the quiet times whilst taxi ing.
cheers

Hi Daffyduck,
Sorry the Magnum only covers the 10 metre radio frequencies so that is all you can listen to.
To listen to anything else you need a radio that covers those frequencies, i.e a scanning receiver.
Regards,
Andy

The Alinco DJ-X3 has a Audio Descrambler, would that do the job?

Hi,
No the Audio descrambler in the DJ-X3 only descrambles simple analogue scrambling. The police used advanced digital encryption which at the moment is impossible (without spending £50,000!) to de-scramble.
