I see that Thunderpole have the new Maxon CM70 CB radio in stock.
Anyone purchased one, or perhaps Andy could spare his initial thoughts on this most peculiar new addition?
It certainly looks interesting.

Hi Guzzy,
Well I must say I was quite surprised with this peculiar new radio to be honest, pleasantly surprised though.
Maxon consulted us on the design originally and we hadnt seen anything like it before, but after several weeks of road and bench testing I can confirm this is one of the best CB radios we have ever seen. Joe, our resident amateur radio enthusiast said the quality and performance was as good as some amateur radios available.
The design actually uses 'Capsense' technology(capacitive sensing), which is the same as what is used on the clickwheel on an Ipod or the touchpad on a laptop. It senses when you gently touch the front of the radio and doesnt involve mechanical switches so there is nothing to wear out or go wrong. And it seems to work very well.
It also has function buttons on the microphone where you can change pretty much everything on the radio even the volume and squelch, which is unique to this radio too.
The performance seemed to be as good as, if not better than any of the top of the range radios, and the clarity of audio and sensitivity is excellent.
As far as we are concerned a welcome addition to our range of CB's and something a little bit different.

Anyone else used one or got any comments?

Touch sensitive eh?
That's an interesting development for CB radio. Makes a certain amount of sense I guess. No broken knobs to worry about.
It will be interesting to hear peoples opinions on it's actual day to day use.

Personally I like it or rather want to like it but im sceptical about how easy all the touch sensitive stuff would be whilst on the move? Im talking about basic stuff like volume and squech (im assuming there is some sort of mode button you click through to get to the setting you want?).
One thing I reckon is a good idea is being able to adjust stuff from the mic. Ideal in modern cars where sometimes you might have to or want to mount the radio in a position that might not be accessible from the drivers seat.
Looking forward to hearing more from users...

i really like the sound of it.i've used quite a few older midlands where the sound will only work with the volume switch in a certain place or its a real fiddle with the volume swtich to get them to switch on.
So if this new idea is reliable it looks great to me

Like the radio, works well and indeed has killer audio on AM (its legal here)
I have one of these radios for mobile and so far i have been impressed with it ..... audio has been modded and is very loud now, saying that it was good before! RX is also A1. buttons do take a little time to get used too alla Ipod ish lol but this might be the way modern cb should be going, mic is nice to use controls vol, chan, Squelch/auto Squelch, memorys, beep on/off, brightness/lock, so it's all there for you while mobile no need to go near the radio
So far v happy =D>
