you may be ok with a hatch/boot mount, but watch for clearance as you open it.

a magmount on the boot would probably work ok too, although as with a bootlip mount, any aerial at the back of the car will be directional with more transmitted power going frontwards.

If you use a bootlid type mount, just make sure the lid is attached (electrically, for a groundplane) to the rest of the vehicle. Sometimes they use vibration dampening materials which tend to isolate.

I had this with a hatch mount on the back of an old fiat uno - i had to run an earth strap (hd speaker cable) to a nearby earthing point.

You could put a magmount on your roof just back from the sunroof...just check your SWR to see if it is low enough!

I just put a magmount on whenever I'm going out in the car and just take the CB out of the house with me!

Magmount has always worked fine with my parent's old banger. However, with modern cars and all these plastic panels, the earthing isn't always great... or have I just been near too many old Citroens?

I had a mate who said his cb he'd just put in his moms landrover was crap..couldn't get out very far at all. Turns out his moms landrover had a big fibreglass canopy on the back, and this is where he'd stuck the magmount! Good job they hadn't driven anywhere lol. After moving it to the front of the cab where it was metal, it was 10 times better...you live and learn.

you could do that m8

you could do that m8, or you could use something simple such as a magmount or similar

Can anybody tell me what the biggest antena is, that would be safe to use with a magmount. ie. without falling off when going down the motorway.

The SIRIO HY-POWER 3000 is an amazing antenna. It would be best used with a triple mag mount though :D

Talking of antennas comeing off at speed, i was going down the M1 yesterday at 90 mph [-X and i could hear a clunking sound on the roof,

so i got the wife to look through the sunroof  and what was happening my ML 145 mag was lifting at an angle.

One way of making me slow down i suppose.
