RF Gain (Magnum S-9)

I have just bought myself a new Magnum S-9 opend on 11meters, was wondering if this is normal, yesterday the RF gain seemed to be adjusting the needle on the Static, i could turn the RF gain fully clockwise and it would read about 5/6 pound of static and then back down to 0 pound of static, today im getting nothing just 0 pound of static even if i turn the RF gain fully clockwise it will only move the needle about 1 pound. i can hear the static in back of the box, when recieving someone i can adjust there poundage though from say +30 down to 0 and visa versa which i guess my RF Gain is working, it just dosnt seem to want to adjust the needle for the static today for some reason.

is this something to do with the Skip and white noise?

Thanks for that mate much appreciated, Just threw me a little, i thought can FM ever be so quiet and free of static lol, being new to the CB and then going to a Magnum from a Midland Alan 78 plus Multi is a big change and when something works one day and not the next i thought i had done something wrong lol well least my RF Gain isn't goosed

you don"t get much needle movement on fm you will get more on usb on certain frequencies
give it a try and you will see what i mean
nice radio have you picked up much skip yet
i heard a few stations on the triple around 6pm today
sunday was very active all day

I see what you mean about the needle movement hehe, later that evening mate the static was back up again... atmospheric conditions i guess...
I picked up a little bit of Skip on 27.555 on tuesday afternoon, (made no copys though) since then its been pretty quiet this end buddy, i think i will have a listen later on this evening and see what it's like, it might be a little bit better when my Sirio 827 arrives im using a silver rod at the moment and it's pretty low down.
