Hi Mr Paul
Many thanks for your info having checked out the silver rod spec it seems very similar to the twig some folks used years ago circa early 80s (used to be marketed under the hygain brand) it does not seem to have much gain or handle some of the freqs.i am hoping to use.
If you have any other suggestions i would be extremely grateful, products seem to have changed lots lol
Cheers Fella

hi there mark when i started back i wonderd what was going on white antennas and all digital cbs with 80 channels.
i was used to 40 channels and the good old silver rod ..but now i ve got used to the new stuff and the antron 99 is a very good antenna wich dose not break in the wind . the radios are ok but a good multimode radio is best you can get every where on any band..

good luck mate paul :)

Hiya mark,
I got my self a ss 3900 about 6 months ago now, and married it with a A99 as you mentioned earler.
I have had no prob Dxing France, Italy,Germany, The ss3900 Is a very easy rig to use, even more so with a frequency counter added. As for the Antron 99, its a fantastic antenna Get it high, fix it tight, then forget about it.
It blows away the likes of any silver rod when it comes down to the meat and potatoes of Rx and Dx!
Yes you pay a little more, but if you are gonna spend any money spend it in the right direction.
Your spending your pocket money on a 10 meter radio, give it a chance to operate to its potentional! :)
Good luck with what ever you choose!

Who knows yo might even become a superstar 3900 superstar! just like me..... *King*

Let us know how you get on!
Regards
Billybob....... :D
