thought i would have a play,

should be online tomorrow evening providing it all turns up in the post tomorrow.

going to have a play with a few types of antennas etc

went to use it today but as the other post says rain stopped play,

i really need a antenna where i live i may just get a small bazoka andtenna and use that indoors as i cant put anything out side

apart from that yes its going great, still finding bands i didnt even know exsisted, the only thing i have noticed on 14mhz stations from all over the world coming in at 30+ perfect, it dont seem like theres as much fun in it, at least with say 27.555 sometimes you will get a good convo with a station far away and sometimes not, with other bands it seems like its always there which to me would take the fun away.... if you can see where im coming from on that one lol

is good to have the uncertancy there and seems like persistance pays off on 11m

yer im slowly getting there with all the menus etc, when i got it i set the radio up as instructed in the instructions.

i.e full reset then set things up individuly, only close uk stations come in at 30 plus as they should, i suppose that the guys on 14mhz are using more power etc etc.

let me have another look at the instrucions lol

The only thing that i dont like about the 706s and its the same on my ts480sat is the bar signal meters.

oh that reminds me, did you catch the sat today on 145.9000 it came over us at about 11.45 i think it was, couldnt really make it out on the vx-7r got it on the vr500 though, and hadnt set the icom up so dont know on that.

im much more of a fan of the proper signal meters but hey the pros on the icom and kenwood radios and yaesu for that fact, well out weight the cons i think lol

hmm two minds at the mo, work is keeping me busy at the mo so maybe when it slows down a bit.

good news on the 446 repeater, its online now not 24/7 but will be soon, just sorting a antenna out and should be working well
