hey all im new to cb's and i was given a nato 2000 radio and after a bit of research it looks as if the nato is a pretty good cb some selling for £180 and was wondering how much this radio costs, when were they made and if its any good compared to other cb radios.

oh yeah and the cb works perfectly and is in perfect condition.
many thanks in advance.

The Nato 2000 was a radio from around 1981-1984 time and was a legal radio that when the crystal was moved position it opened all the "naughty" channels. Made by Cybernet, there was many made in different names like Tristar 848 and other brands within the EU. Think it was imported into the UK via Union Mills on the Isle of Man.

Bands A-E 26065-28305 am/fm/usb/lsb
Plus the UK40

Had just lines to show the other bands, but came with a sticker to put on top of the band switch with all the letters there.

KC Shift for the +/- 5kc

Had one that used to change the traffic lights when used with the amplifier [-X back then.

These days, go for something a little newer, its a GREAT rig but please remember now over 25 years old

well thanks alot simon i really havent got a clue about cb's i just know how to use it =] and loving the traffic light thing thats awsome if you dont get caught. umm just a few questions about it though
1.do you have any idea how much it is worth?
2.i have this amp that the bloke gave me with the nato and its a "bremi BRL 31 25W CB" "AM,FM,SSB" its still in its box with all the instructions and was wondering if this amp is any good compared to newer amps and how much that would be worth?
3. does many people actually use the side bands nowadays? and did you have to modify the nato to change the traffic lights because that would come in handy in wales (uk) because of all the roadworks with the lights that dont change for ages =]

many thanks for all the info
