i've got a cobra 25 st, and it picks up well but people are telling me i sound quite tinny when transmitting. have been told its a common thing with cobras.

also got a cobra 19 am set which seems to work fine

Hi,

Check that wax hasnt got into RV401 next to the vco can.
Could actually be that the DEV is set too high making it sound awfull..
One way to prove my point is to turn down the front panel mic gain a bit and get an honest rig check !
Does it have its original mic ?

A properly set up Cobra will perform well in most conditions.

I had a cobra 29 in the summer it was ok but the channel selector started getting stiff and found it a bit clumsy to use so i sold it and now back using my old skool rigs
